Get ahead, toss on a flat cap! Or any other hat that you favor…

A simple silk blouse in neutral tone paired with jeans looks sexy and cool, thanks to a flat cap that complements this minimalist outfit with a dash of attitude. It doesn’t matter if you favor a fedora, a Panama, a floppy sunhat or even a baseball cap… A hat dresses up any look in an effortlessly chic way. It’s one of the summer’s must-have accessories. For this particular photo session though, I wanted to be photograph with my tweed flat cap, a hat that I usually wear in Fall. Since it’s still cold in Montreal (feels more like Fall than Spring actually), I figure it was appropriate and decided to pair it with a silk blouse for a sharp masculine/feminine contrast.

Referred to as the working cap for it’s origins among British immigrants, the flat cap (also called the driving cap and the newsboy cap) can be worn with pretty much anything. Well, sort of. More elevated than a baseball cap but less formal than a fedora, this timeless hat can easily add extra sass to a casual look. I adopted the trend a long time ago, even before the Downtown Abbey domino effect! But I also have a soft spot for my fedora and my floppy sunhat… In fact, I could wear a hat seven days of the week since I love them so much. Get ahead, toss on a hat too. Don’t wait to have a bad hair-day!
