3C Crush: I’m crushing for those things this week

This weekend I had the blues. No particular reason really. It just was the mood. Which is rare because I’m usually pretty stable. Perhaps, the fact that it had been pouring rain for many days may have been a determining factor. The lack of sunshine can have an effect on our mood. Anyway, it definitely shows in my crushes of the week: a remarkable artwork, an amazing interpretation of Every Breath you Take, some adorable little things in shades of blue (No, not Smurfs) and a confort snack with cayenne pepper. If you have missed my first post of 3C Crush, here’s the link to my previous weekly rendez-vous.

1. Adorable Angie

Angie

I’ve received another amazing gift from a friend of mine. This beautiful drawing you see  was made for me by Angie Ordonez. Wow! I’m so touched. I mean, it’s not even my birthday. Remember Angie? I previously mentioned the artwork of this fabulous artist. She’s the lady who does the fashion illustrations for my blog. Saying I’m happy that our paths crossed is an understatement. I feel so honored that she has accepted to collaborate with me in so many projects. Her artistic skills elevate the aesthetic of the blog. And I’m very glad that our work together develops into friendship. She’s such a creative and beautiful human being. Visit her Instagram account @thexostudio_ and her casetify shop. You’ll have a blast. The only down side is that you’ll want to buy everything!

2. Goosebumps! – Chaire de poule!

All week, I have been humming this old song from The Police. Remember, I was a bit nostalgique! Imagine my surprise when I saw on One Beautiful Thing that a new version of Every Breath you Take was Donna OBT of the day. She suggested to listen Chase Holfelder’s version. I did. OMG Holfelder’s version is so amazing it gave me goosebumps! Thanks Donna for sharing.

3. London Blue

AtehModus – Etsy

This shade of blue in topaz is called London Blue. I always wonder why they named a gem after a city known for its rains and general lack of blue skies. Wishful thinking? These beautiful Sterling silver rings with half moon faceted gemstone are from AtehModus Jewelry collection. 58.15$ CAN. See her shop on Etsy.

58.15$ CAN. Voir sa boutique sur Etsy.

4. Marbled Indigo Pumpkins

5. Watermelon with cayenne pepper? Yummy!

Watermelon Bites with Agave and Cayenne Pepper – I’ve Got Cake

I have to admit. I was skeptical about this unusual mix and not sure if I wanted to jump on the train. Watermelon with cayenne pepper? But I trust Dana from I’ve Got Cake. All the recipes that she suggested that I have tried were good. So let’s do this recipe. Verdict? It’s Yummy! I am definitely on board. My feeling is it could also be delicious with mangos. Luuuuv mangos. I have not yet tried it. But I’ll let you know when I do. Meanwhile, check Dana’s blog for the watermelon & cayenne pepper recipe. Right here.

Thanks for your visit. Stay strong, stay stylish! – Merci de visiter mon blogue. Soyez forte, soyez stylée!

    1. Yes, the pumpkins are beautiful. I already made a batch. You knew already about the watermelon! It was a discovery for me but I did like it very much. Have you tried with other fruits?

  1. I adore the topaze ring and pumpkins in blue.

  2. Hello my friend. Hope you are feeling better. It is raining on the beautiful Gold Coast as well so Gold Coast is actually grey at the moment. I am in love with Angie’s work I follow her on Instagram. She is truly amazing. Those pumpkins are so beautiful, my kids would probably love trying painting some as we get ready for Halloween. Beautiful version of the song Every Breath You Take Loved it! The watermelon recipe sounds perfect and I love mangoes too. I should try both. Ahhh those rings. So beautiful and so perfect. Now every time I see blue I am going to think of London. I lived there and I miss it very much. Have a beautiful day. xoxo Cris

    1. What a beautiful comment Cris. Thank you. I actually like rainy day. It’s the perfect time to stay in bed with a book. I have a problem with it only when it’s pouring rain for two weeks in a row… I love London, but I don’t think that I could live there for that reason…

  3. Your taste is amazing as always Dominique. I love the shade of blue in both the topaz and the pumpkins, which are incredible by the way. You know how much I like Angie’s illustrations but this one is really elegant as well as pretty.

I have a penchant for minor key songs so this version appeals for sure, though I like the original too. 😀 I was struck by how much it sounds like early Radiohead.

I love watermelon as well as mango by the way. I have tried black pepper on strawberries (amazing) but never tried anything like this with watermelon. Sounds great 😀💕

Sorry to hear you were a bit down at the weekend. So was I and I am not really sure why either – our weather was not great either and the tail end of hurricane Ophelia was heading our way.

I will think of you when I am in London tomorrow but not sure I will see much blue sky either as it is foggy tonight!

    1. Wow! Thank you for this lovely comment Darren. You’re right, it does sound like early Radiohead. Glad to hear you are feeling better too. I will make sure that Angie gets your comment. She’s an amazing artist & a wonderful and beautiful woman. You would like her for sure. Enjoy the exhibition in London tomorrow.
