Women’s Fashion: The Only Guide You Need

This blog post is sponsored by Floryday
Fashion for women can be a minefield of dilemmas… what to buy, what colors to choose, what styles, how to keep your clothes safe, etc. There is so much information that it can be quite daunting. But with this simple guide, you will be able to get the most out of your closet going forward and look as stylish as if you just came off a designer runway show!
Sound good?

Know which colors are trendy

The main thing to focus on when dressing in different seasons is to wear the colors of that season so that you will look en vogue. Keep an eye on fashion websites like vogue.com, elle.com and of course 3cstyle.com to see which colors featured the most during fashion weeks. The colors on the catwalk are a key indicator of the shades we can expect to see in trend. Use these colors in your clothing or with your accessories. For example, burgundy was huge in the 2017 fall shows. So for winter, stick to rich, indulgent reds, browns and burgundy hues and you can’t go wrong. An elegant wrap dress in a beautiful deep color will not only look good but give you a fashion edge.

For spring, prepare yourself for a sense of fun and playful release. Look for clothing in cherry tomato, yellow, sailor blue, ultra violet (color of the year), spring crocus, dark brown, palace blue and soft hues like dove grey, nile green, coconut milk, pink lavender and warm sand as Pantone call out these colors in their Spring 2018 palette.

As you can see that doesn’t mean that neutral or classic shades are out of style. Pantone thought about classic colors for 2018 spring season as well. There’s a reason for it. They are essential for any season. For example, they can help pull off the color trends. Here are 3 ways to approach the trendy colors.
  • Built upon in tonal stories;
  • Used in a full-on monochrome look;
  • Mixed in a wild color pairing to create bold and contrasting outfits.
Your choice!

Be You… And sexy!

Being sexy is not something to be afraid of and women should feel comfortable about showing off a small part of their body. Have fun with fashion and stay feminine and elegant, you will feel so much better about your look. Whichever style you favor, just remember to be authentic and embrace your entire self. For the minimalism, “less is more” and that is okay. You can’t go wrong. Others might however prefer the maximalist fashion approach, where “more is more”. Everything can be mix and match. No rule! That is what some call “statement dressing”. No problemo here either. As long as YOU feel good that’s what’s important. Fashionwise, nothing else matters. Knowing yourself is not only a must for wellbeing, but the key to be stylish. So… Be you but dare a little tease! (Want more on that topic? See my post Attitude is key to be highly stylish)

Experiment and revamp your wardrobe

Next time you’ll go shopping, why not experiment and step out of your comfort zone a bit. This doesn’t have to be a drastic change, but you could try to add in some different elements to your look, like statement necklaces, higher heels, asymmetric tops, etc. Always keep changing your style slightly as the seasons go by to avoid getting stuck in a style rut. By all means, choose the clothes that you feel best in, like a gorgeous sexy dress, fabulous on its own, but add in a little bit of extra fashion focus such as an eye catching belt or bag for others to hone in on and you will help to keep your look current and up to date. Extra points if you rock such items in an of-the-moment hue. Like these beautiful bags from Floryday.

Seek for details

Finally, look after the little things. For example, always remove labels from soles of shoes when you buy them…unsightly if left there for all to see. Cutoff long labels and hanger loops from tops. There is nothing worse than seeing those loops hanging out over arms, they will completely ruin the look of any outfit. Only use wooden hangers to store your clothes, wire hangers will totally destroy the shape of garments and distort their line irreversibly. Wooden hangers are much kinder!
Look after yourself as well, if you have your nails manicured, hair styled and lovely, complimentary makeup applied, then your clothes will just be the cherry on top! Beauty comes from the inside out and if you feel good you will look even better. A real true head turner.
Clothes are not something to be afraid of, but something to have fun with. Just by following a few simple rules you can get the most out of your closet and make sure that your first impressions last!

    2. Oh my… You still have your school handbags? I do understand though the need to keep a few things as they hold many memories. For me, this happened with my mom jewelry. But I’ve got two special handbags I will keep for many more years and will probably end up giving to my daughter one day. Thanks so much for your lovely comment Annika. 💚

    3. Every so often the Mr. opens some cupboard doors and he gets avalanched by bags, scarfs, hats, then there’s the shoes and boot underfoot. Annika, I had a sort of impoverished upbringing, so yes, I do need these things. xxx

    1. Thank you my dear friend. To be nominated for this award is awesome, especially by you. YOU inspire me daily with awe. I am very grateful for your kind words and that you thought of me, but mostly I am appreciative of your amazing friendship. You are as sweet as honey, but without thankfully neonicotinoids pesticides. I find it funny that you mention this study of yours in this post as it is what brought you to my path. xoxo

  2. Love this post and all the wonderful advise. My favorite is the red dress and I still owe a woman in red post on here one day or another due to saying that not everybody can pull off red. Haha. Now I’ve been challenged to prove it. Thank you for all the great tips. Fabulous post. Xo
