7 Days B/W Photo Challenge – Street Photography

My friend Sarah over at Art Expedition has created a new photo challenge in honor of her 3rd blog anniversary. A street photography challenge. I’m thrilled because I love B&W pictures and I am very found of street photography ever since I’ve got introduced to the photojournalism of Marc Riboud, Robert Capa and Elliott Erwitt. Their photos have awakened the consciousness of the world and are worth much more than a thousand words. Thank you Sarah for creating such a fun challenge for all of us. 😀 I wish a very long life to your beautiful blog. You and your artwork are a great source of inspiration for me.
The rules are: Seven days in a row. Seven black and white street photography. With complete strangers. No explanation. Nominate as many people as you like. Note: You can post one photo each day of the challenge or post your 7 photos in one blogpost if you prefer. Your choice. Also, don’t forget to thank the creator of this challenge (Thank you Sarah!!!!) and the person who’s nominated/tagged you and provide a link to their blogs.
I have added a colored version for each shot as I like to show the contrast with the B/W ones.
My nominees are: Shreya (because she is so sweet and creative); Otto von Münchow (an awesome photographer who I admire very much) and Ceri (another fantastic photographer, which talent never cease to amaze me).
I want to point out that there is absolutely no obligation to take part in this challenge. Also, if I haven’t directly challenged you but you want to have a go at this then be my guest. Have fun!

    1. The same idea came to my mind when I published the picture. I did not have that impression while taking the pic. And I have not made any changes on this photo. Thanks Dawn for visiting. Happy Wednesday.

    1. Thank you Alison! It’s raining here in Montreal and I’m off work today. The light is beautiful. I hesitate between cleaning, reading or going out photographing umbrellas and rain boots … Uhmm, my life is complicated sometimes! 😊

    2. I decided … I’ll go for a walk. It does not rain much and the light is so beautiful. I will put the cap of my raincoat on my head and take pictures with my iPhone … It will be easier that way. Have a great day!

    1. And you are so kind… As always! I took these pics with my iPhone; the quality is not high but I had a pleasant and creative moment while looking for things to photographed. Thank you Shreya for taking the time to write me a comment.

If you think, you can spare sometimes please let me know, so I can email you the questions. Also what would be the best email. Have a blessed day a head!

  1. Aww – thank you so much for your lovely words and for joining me in this challenge, Dominique! Your pics are awesome and I especially love that you put the B/W and the colored version side by side! You have a very good eye for catching people and interesting patterns! Really love them all but Day 4, 5, 6 and 7 especially! Great job! You definitely need to do this more often, my friend! 😀 xoxoxo

    1. I had so much fun doing this challenge that I wanted to repeat the experience. Yesterday, I went searching for new topics and I already have three interesting photos that I can use for another post. I hope to take more photos this weekend. Thank you Sarah for launching this challenge. You revived my interest in street photography and made me take action instead of just admiring other people’s pictures. I also find that this creative activity combined with walking has a relaxing effect on me and could certainly become a very plaisant way for me to relax. Thanks! Big hugs. xoxo

    2. Oh, I’m so very glad that I’ve revived your interest in street photography, Dominique! And that it brings you so much joy and even helps you find relaxation. I often find that things we love doing go hand in hand with finding relaxation. When I paint, draw or work with clay, or bake a cake it always feels like a form of meditation. 😊
Looking very much forward to see your new photos!! Big hugs! xoxo

    1. Thanks Gil! I do like the contrast between the B&W and the colour pics. I am always amazed that some photos are more striking in B&W while others are more interesting in color. Have a lovely and creative weekend too.

    1. Ah, que ton message me fait plaisir. J’adore prendre des photos. Je devrais investir dans une bonne camera. Oups, I just noticed I was writing in French to you but I know you speak both languages… Thanks so much for your visit and your kind words. Hope everything is going well for you Margo. Take care and keep well. xoxo
