We are all Fashioned by Nature

Some of you already know it. In my youth, I worked in the fashion industry, then in theater and then in front of and behind the cameras for television and film productions. At the age of 24, a milestone happened in my life. Not long after I gave up everything. I started again from scratch. I went back to university and five years later became a science journalist, a job I’ve been doing for 20 years now. Over the past two years, I’ve added a string to my bow by becoming a fashion and style blogger. It’s a bit of a homecoming, but with the added experience of many years of intellectual rigour and work ethic. Why do I tell you part of my journey? Simply to illustrate that our lives are not a long calm river. There is always astir, some splashing. It’s normal. Just like the ecosystems that work in nature we are in a constant state of flux. We respond to our surroundings. We all are Fashioned by Nature. Wether it is painful or not mostly depends on us. Change is rarely easy, often scary, but it doesn’t have to be painful.

“Change is never painful; only resistance to change is painful.” – Buddha

Recently, the When Fashion and Nature Collide team experienced such a change. Our friend Roda decided to devote herself entirely to her Apiary. Lisa, Darren and I are happy to see her realize her dreams and we wish her lots of success in her projects. Our Happy Trio continues its collaboration and will ensure to inspire you each month with outfit ideas and creative artworks Fashioned by Nature. This name given to our company that will soon allow you to get the products created by the team is evocative of the change that I spoke about. It is looking to the promising future that fashion is not a source of pollution but becomes a socio-eco-friendly model that respect and encourage us all to live in harmony with nature. Lisa’s logo captured perfectly the essence of our message and its made with elements from each of us. We believe that alone we might go faster, but as a team, we go further!

The November edition of When Fashion and Nature Collide is on the 21st.

Note: In case you’ve not seen these capsules before, the When Fashion and Nature Collide project is a monthly collaboration with my WP friends: Lisa of Lismore Paper and Darren of The Arty Plantsman.
The third wednesday of each month you can see outfits styled by me, and art from Lisa, that were inspired by Darren’s flower pictures and the critter pictures of photographers who collaborate with the team. With the spirit of protecting nature I pull together my outfits with clothing already available in my wardrobe. When purchases are to be made, these come from vintage shops and thrift stores or from socio-eco-friendly brands.

The Nature of Change and the Nature of Fashion

    1. I read your comment too fast the first time. I thought you said that “Keep rocking” was a quote by Buddha. I started to laugh. 😂 Then I thought I had to reread your comment again. Haha… What a beautiful way to start the day. Thanks for your kind words Megala.
