As much as I love the silence, music plays an important part in my life. I particularly like listening to music while I drive or clean my house —you know, sing-along kind of songs that keep you kicking, even if you are stuck in traffic.
I enjoy all genres, from pop rock and movie soundtrack (most of James Bond original theme songs bring much joy) to Irish Celtic music, Elvis Presley and blues. I love how music bonds people together and get lots of pleasure from discovering new artists too. Concerts are not my cup of tea though, just too many people. That being said, I have great memories from seeing performances, like U2 in Montreal and Simon and Garfunkel in Los Angeles.
For Sarah’s music challenge, I put together a playlist of 30 songs that are my fondest —well, there are over 80 of them but I had to choose. You can listen to my playlist on Spotify (link below). Warning. There are many love songs! And if you do choose to listen to my playlist, you might have the urge to hit repeat after hearing the last song. You’ve been warned.
My dear and talented friend Sarah at Art Expedition is hosting a music challenge for the month of June, 30 Days, 30 Songs. I chose to share mine in one blog post. See Sarah’s latest song choice, HERE.
Haha… I only put one song from Queen and I forgot about Duran Duran. There are so many artists that I love. 😊 You are right, Bohemian Rhapsody should have made the list for sure. Need some vacation badly, but I’m fine. Thank you so much for your comment Tony. Keep well.
Oh I love your playlist Dominique. Like you, I love to have music on when I’m driving and cleaning. Yet another thing we have in common. And I like it up loud! Fabulous playlist, I love so many of the songs and in fact a few of my favourites that I like playing and singing on my guitar are there too. I would also throw Josh Groban into the mix as well! 😊🎵
I have a second playlist coming up and Josh is in it. 😊He has such an incredible voice. He could sing the phone book and I would love it! Thanks for visiting Miriam. xoxo
He’s fabulous isn’t it. I know you said you didn’t like live concerts but I’ve seen him both times when he was out here in Australia and he was AMAZEBALLS!! 😊 xx
Yes, it seems we both have eclectic tastes in music. I have put together a second playlist but I will wait a little before posting it because Darren wants to participate in Sarah’s challenge and there are many artists and songs we both like. Glad you like my song choices. Much love and hugs!
I know that you understand Su and it is very kind of you. I do enjoy reading you and seeing your artworks and photos bring much joy, but for the past two weeks it has been hard to keep up with all my WP friends. I need a clone. Of course, the clone would go to the office and I would take care of the blogging. Lol. 😊
I love the image too, Dominique. Nothing wrong with love songs. They are great singalong songs. Great songs in your playlist. I am going to listen to your playlist while I do some cooking. 🙂
This comment ended up in my spam folder too. ARGGGG! Why, why, why? At least, I was able to retrieve it. Glad you enjoy my playlist Tracy and thanks for commenting.
Have you seen the film Moonrise Kingdom? It is a really great movie. You are right. Music transcends cultures. Thanks for commenting Alan. Hugs back to you my friend.
I know I got a preview of this list but it still makes me smile how much we have in common. I see you have now chosen your U2 and Leonard Cohen songs 🙂
Oh and I have not seen Moonrise Kingdom!
Sending huge hugs.
Oooh, I guess it says a lot about my age! Lol Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend. P.S. I have not tried yet your latest recipe, but I will. I love cinnamon but never thought of mixing this spice with pasta. This is an interesting combo!
I looove Moonrise Kingdom and that pic!!! 😀 And your playlist is just awesome, Dominique! So many things in common – it could be scary if it weren’t such fun! LOL! 😀 Literally every song you’ve picked is one of my favorites as well!! And you also added Green Day and Nirvana – how cool is that?! I swear, if you were right here wight now I would take you by the hands and start hopping up and down like a child from all the excitement! 😀 The James Bond music is always so good, isn’t it? And hallelujah is also going to make an appearance on my blog soon. 😉 And that REM song – a true classic! Who could not sing along with that?! Ah, I will have such a good time listening to all your songs during the day! Big hugs, dear friend! 😀 xoxo
This made me laugh so hard. I can easily imagine us holding hands and jumping up and down like kids. That image will stay in my head all day! Your music challenge is so much fun Sarah. I was not so surprise to find out that we have similar music tastes, but I was REALLY surprise to discover that I have so many songs in common with Darren. By the way, I have a second playlist ready on Spotify. It is called Sarah’s Challenge.2 😉 30 songs is just not enough. There were many other songs that I wanted to share with you. I will post the second playlist in July along maybe with a Summer Traveling Playlist. Sending a huge hug your way. Also will try to send you through IG the short video I took for you of the Montreal subway. Keep well dear friend. xoxo
You’re so right – 30 songs really isn’t enough! Barely scratched the surface! 😂 And how wonderful that you have also many songs in common with Darren – another proof that your souls are related. 😉
Look forward to you second playlist! 😄 xoxo
Wow, you’ve seen Simon & Garfunkel. That’s cool. Great list. A couple of these are on my iTunes playlist (Wish You Were Hear & Heroes (the acoustic version)) And looking at your list, I think I should add a couple. 😉 BTW – There’s nothing wrong with having a lot of love songs. Cheers!
Yes, it was in the early 90s, not long after they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, if my memories serve me right. Now, I am showing my age! Lol Thankfully, you don’t mind about the love songs. My husband says I am a die-hard romantic. Glad you enjoy the playlist Chris.
How lucky! They did a Central Park concert that was televised on HBO. We taped it and watched the tape endlessly. (Back in the days of VHS – Do you remember that?) We were fortunate to see Paul Simon (sans Garfunkel) around the same time on the Rhythm of the Saints tour. One of my favorite concerts ever.
Ooh my, I do remember the VHS. I have not seen Simon’s concert in Central Park on HBO. I think it was around the time Simon and Garfunkel were not in good terms. Wait, let me rephrase that —their relationship was damaged from the start! But how fantastic they were.
I will definitely hit the repeat button and steal this list. I got to see U2 several times in concert as well and its always so much more as going to a concert only. The ultimate experience. Thanks for sharing this. ❤️
Thanks Margit. I don’t go to concerts often but I am glad I went to see U2. If you follows the list on Spotify it will show you another playlist, which I have not publish yet on the blog. I think you might like this other list as well. ❤
Firstly, if I can make a playlist on Spotify you definitely can too! You know how good I am with tech things. Spotify is really user-friendly. And BTW we are the same age and I love 80s Rock too. So watch your words dear. Lol Much love Dee-Dee!
What a great playlist Dominique and the challenge sounds like a lot of fun I listen to music in the car, when I am editing images, exercising (cleaning the house) that is part of my exercise routine too lol Have a wonderful weekend gorgeous xoxo Cris
That is a cool playlist. I know most of the bands and songs, but a few I will have to check out. Of course, I had to smile when I saw you had a Norwegian band at the top of your list.
AH! You know a-ha… Of course, you do. Silly me. We must have about the same age. This band reminds me so many good memories. I still listen to their music once in a while. Thanks for stopping by Otto.
My goodness my friend what a great list. I would throw in some Duran Duran and Queen in there but your are right on track. Hope all is well.
